About Maid to Clean®

Founder and Owner, Cinderella (Cindi) Bermudez

Cindi Bermudez, founder of Maid To Clean

“With a name like mine,” quips Maid to Clean founder, Cinderella Bermudez, “It’s no surprise that I own my own cleaning company.”

In 1996, Cindi made good on her name and established Maid to Clean, a residential cleaning and commercial cleaning company, serving the DC/VA area. Flash forward some 15 years, and Maid to Clean is the Washington, DC-area’s premier cleaning service, with a staff of 40+ and its first franchise operation in Bethesda, MD.

Over the last decade, Cindi has garnered a number of awards for the company and her employees. Most recently, Maid to Clean has again earned the coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award. Maid to Clean was also named 2007 Professional Service Business of the Year, by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. And, in three related honors (given by the Association of Residential Cleaning Services International), Maid to Clean won the 2009 Best Marketing Piece, the 2008 Professional Image Award, and the 2006 Professional Cleaner of the Year, on behalf of supervisor Kenya Montalvan.

Having taken the business completely green in 2008, Cindi and the team were featured on Washington, DC’s News Channel 4 – a segment that showcased the business’s commitment to the environmental and to client and employee safety, through the use of non-toxic products and a safe approach to cleaning. Cindi has also been featured in a number of publications, such as the Washington Post, Bethesda Magazine, ARSCI News, and the Washington Blade.

Keen to share her business acumen, Cindi regularly mentors fellow cleaning-industry professionals. A piece of advice she offers to her proteges is to become involved with their communities. Setting the benchmark, Cindi participates in community functions and fundraisers for such groups as the Mautner Project, the Human Rights Campaign, Reel Affirmations Film Festival, the Alexandria Humane Society, Art on the Avenue in Del Ray, and local schools and churches.

Cindi attributes much of her success to her broad range of interests. In addition to being a Bikram yoga instructor, Cindi is an avid cyclist who has raced for charity all across the U.S., including the 2009 NYCDC 2 AIDS Research Ride. Cindi graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, with a Bachelor of Business Administration; and following graduation, she spent two years with the Peace Corps in Costa Rica.

Having recently relocated, Cindi now lives in Washington, DC, with her two dachshunds, Pepita and Chocolatte, who join her every day in the office, and fully support the work she does with the too-adorable Tara and Bella and other residents of the Elephant Sanctuary.

Our Mascots, Pepita and Chocolatte

Maid To Clean MascotsAsk them and they’ll tell you: no one spends more time working in the office than Pepi and Choco. Committed to keeping the office a lively and happy place, Pepi and Choco are also devoted to their pet project: Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary.

Smitten by the CBS news stories of the friendship between Tara the elephant and Bella the dog, Pepi and Choco are avid fundraisers for the good work done at the Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary. Please get in touch with our office if you would like to support Pepi and Choco’s cause. If you donate to the sanctuary in honor of Pepi and Choco, Maid to Clean will match your donation (individual donations to a maximum of $500, with a goal of $10,000).

Maid to Clean® Goes Green with Solar Power

It’s easy to adopt a few eco-friendly practices and label your business green. Here at Maid to Clean, we take our commitment to the planet seriously. In addition to our green-cleaning products and procedures, we are proud to announce the new solar power installation at our main office in Alexandria, VA.

The installation took place in the spring of 2010, and was a fascinating process to observe. Although it will take some time for the installation to pay for itself, we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. We’re excited to have increased our commitment to a healthy planet, and we look forward to the next challenge in “greening” the way we work and live.
