Maid to Clean® – Cleaning green since 1996

Green isn’t a new fad at Maid to Clean. We’ve been green since we cleaned for our first clients in 1996. We think of green this way: To provide excellent customer service, our cleaning methods and products must be safe for our clients, their pets, the environment, and our Maid to Clean staff.

We know our clients are committed to healthy homes and environmentally-friendly practices, and that is why they hire Maid to Clean. With our commitment to healthier cleaning, we use neutral products like vinegar and water, baking soda, and Bon Ami – all of which contain no chlorine, dye, phosphorus, or fragrance. So, when children and pets play on a floor we’ve just cleaned, there is absolutely no risk of toxicity or harmful chemicals.

Maid to Clean teams are trained to use specialized equipment and products. Along with our environmentally-friendly cleaning products, we use special dust-trapping cloths and HEPA vacuums. Our vacuums catch dust particles and allergens, rather than shooting the irritants back into the air, the way conventional vacuums do. Thus, in addition to being green, our cleaning methods are also highly beneficial for allergy and asthma sufferers.

In consideration of our clients who have allergies, respiratory issues, and other sensitivities, our cleaning teams never wear perfumes or scented creams or lotions while on the job.

Our eco-friendly cleaning products

Bon Ami Cleaning Powder is the brand we use to defog windows and mirrors and clean and polish glass, windows, mirrors, porcelain, unlacquered metals, chrome, aluminum, stainless steel, ceramic tile, cast iron cookware, whitewall tires and tools. Natural ingredients contain no detergent, bleach, perfume, or dye.

Heinz® Distilled White Vinegar is made from sun-ripened grain and crystal clear water. Also, due to its mild acidity (5%), it is a great all-natural cleaning helper.

Simple Green® All-Purpose Cleaner is a multi-purpose cleaner that is nontoxic and biodegradable without harmful bleach. This versatile all-purpose cleaner is also non-hazardous, non-flammable and non-corrosive.

Simple Green® Clean Building Glass Cleaner Concentrate offers economical use dilution, with no added fragrance or volatile organic ingredients that can adversely impact indoor air quality. Specifically for streak and smear-free cleaning of glass and other reflective surfaces.

Simple Green® Concentrated Cleaner/Degreaser/Deodorizer contains a blend of synthetic, high-grade penetrants activated by water. We use this nontoxic, nonflammable, biodegradable, nonabrasive product for degreasing.

Simple Green® Stainless Steel One-Step Cleaner & Polish is perfect for cleaning and maintaining high-end chrome and stainless steel appliances and surfaces found in modern kitchens. It also provides an anti-static surface that resists dust, water spots, and finger marks. The nontoxic, biodegradable formula doesn’t build up on surfaces so it’s perfect for everyday use, and safer for use around family and pets.

We use the following cleaning products:

  • Vinegar
  • Water and vinegar to mop hardwood floors
  • Neutral cleaners and degreasers
  • Dust cloths treated with mineral oil that does not leave any residue
  • Clean set of sanitized cloths – fresh for each home
  • Vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters and hog hair brushes for vacuuming hardwood floors

We do not use the following products:

  • Alcohol-based products
  • Ammonia
  • Bleach
  • Mildew remover
  • Polishes
  • Scented products
  • Waxes
  • Abrasives on stainless steel and chrome fixtures, stove tops or sinks

The cleaning equipment we use

Sanitaire Eureka Upright model SC886 is a commercial vacuum cleaner. Its six-position carpet height adjustment allows us to get the dirt and dust out of any carpet. This powerful vacuum has a shake out dust bag system.

Eureka Mighty Mite 3670 Canister Vacuum sets the standard for small, straight suction canister cleaning. With a powerful 12-amp canister, this vacuum is light-weight, versatile, and perfect for bare floors. Convenient on-board tools like a crevice tool, deluxe floor nozzle, and combination tool enable us to clean anywhere in your home.

Eureka micron filtration systems are attached to our upright and canister vacuum cleaners. These bags provide maximum filtration, retaining up to 100% of dust mites, grass, and ragweed pollen plus particles 15 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. Filteraire bags filter five times better than standard dust bags.

Chix Masslinn dust cloths feature dust-catching fibers and are mineral-oil treated for increased dust pick up and enhanced finish with no lint or residue. Microban antimicrobial protection inhibits bacteria growth. UL tested. Perfect for heavy-duty dusting of floors and large surfaces with high traffic.
